Chemical Peel

Dr. Tubb uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is appropriate for those individuals with blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) are used for this purpose. The precise formula used may be adjusted to meet each patient's needs. Although chemical peel may be performed in conjunction with a facelift, it is not a substitute for such surgery, nor will it halt the aging process. Anesthesia is not required because the solution acts as an anesthetic. However, sedation may be used before and during the procedure to relax you and keep you comfortable. After the peel, it is common to experience temporary flaking or scaling, redness and dryness of the skin. A pain medication will be prescribed to relieve any tingling or throbbing during the recovery period.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion helps to refinish the skin's top layers through a method of controlled surgical scraping using an electrically operated instrument with an abrasive brush or diamond-impregnated burr. The scraping continues until the surgeon reaches the safest level that will make the scar or wrinkles less visible. This is most commonly used on facial scars and wrinkles around the mouth.

Vitalize Peel

This Skin Medica product peel brings the benefits of alpha-hydroxy and other peeling agents in a unique blend to provide a strong, but gentle treatment that is appropriate for all skin types. This is a mild peel after which you may return to work, with no recovery time. The skin may look and feel like a mild windburn for two to three days prior to peeling and flaking.
