Enhancement of the lips may be achieved by means of temporary fillers such as Collagen or Fascian which are injected directly into the lips resulting in fuller lips. The results will last anywhere from a few weeks to several months, depending on individual absorption rate.

Radiesse

Radiesse, recently approved by the FDA, is the newest generation of longer lasting injectables. Radiesse works with your body, below the skin's surface. Tiny calcium-based microspheres form a "scaffold" to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Over time, the microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed by your body. Radiesse does more than just temporarily fill in facial folds and wrinkles. It rebuilds your skin's foundation and restores your youthful look, without the risks associated with a permanent implant. It must be injected with caution and by an experienced plastic surgeon. Radiesse normally lasts 18 - 24 months.

Restylane

Restylane, is a safe and natural dermal filler which restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane is a clear gel which contains hyaluronic acid, is biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. Restylane effects generally last for about 9 - 16 months.

Collagen

Collagen, is a natural protein, similar tothat which our own body produces. Injectable collagen is derived from purified bovine collagen. 1-2% of patient will experience an adverse reaction; thus, a skin simple test must be performed 4 weeks prior to injection.

Dermal fillers such as Radiesse, Restylane and Collagen are injected directly into the lips resulting in fuller lips. The results will last anywhere from several months to two years or more, depending on injectible used and depending on location as well as an individuals absorption rate. With all fillers, there will be some swelling and possible bruising that will generally abatesin a few days or up to two weeks. Generally, patients may resume their normal activities after the procedure.
