Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty, commonly called tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure to firm and smooth the abdomen. Excessive skin with underlying fat are removed and the muscles of the abdominal wall are tightened. The result is a flatter, tighter abdominal profile.
With aging, pregnancy, and weight fluctuation, the abdominal skin may becomes loose and flabby with excessive accumulation of fatty deposits that are concentrated in that area. While healthy diet and proper exercise are essential for excellent health, it is rare for the skin to regain the tightness once it has lost it’s elasticity.
Ideal candidates for this surgery are those who have one or more of the following conditions:
- Excessive or loose, sagging abdominal skin
- An abdomen which protrudes and is not proportionate to the rest of the body
- Abdominal muscles which have become weakened by pregnancy or aging
- Excessive fat that is concentrated in the abdominal area
